I'm back!

Yay! I'm back! It feels SO good to be home! I had a great time spending the past week with my Sister and her family! It felt like a pretty productive trip! We went to Zion National Park on Memorial Day. It was so fun but very tiring. I was hauling around baby "C" in the carrier all day. Hiking with a 20-ish pound baby is a lot of work! BUT I weighed myself today (just for fun) and I lost a pound from the week! Whoo-hoo. It sure paid off to haul her around!

I ended up buying some yardage from some local shops AND did a little applique work! I also managed to catch a head cold...so I'm home now trying to recover :(

More details on everything sewing related tomorrow :)

My Crafty Crush!

First of all- Thank you for all the birthday wishes yesterday. You guys are sweet.

Everyone crushes on a quilt pattern, fabric line, quilt book, etc from time to time. I wanted to share with you what I'm totally crushing on. As of right now, I HAVE the pattern but have yet to grow the kahunas to start this quilt....the Single Girl Quilt! DUN DUN DUN!!!!!

Single Girl Quilt Pattern   Single Girl Quilt Pattern

I know, I know...it's a super intimidating quilt. ALL THOSE TINY PIECES AND CURVES! Seriously though, this is on my bucket list. I WILL complete this quilt...someday. Haha! I have SO many other quilt projects going on right now though. I really don't want to start this one until i can really dedicate the time to it and enjoy what I'm doing. I don't just want to rush right through it like all my other quilts! The curves gotta be perfect! I gotta give some serious props to those who HAVE completed this quilt OR even started it!

It's my Birthday!

Today I crossed on over from the "mid" twenties into the "late" twenties...yes...that means I turned 27 today! For some of you, that may not be a big deal...for others, I'm old. Haha! Well, I think it's JUST right! Plus, there's not much I can do about it anyways!

Lately I've been literally showered with gifts and giveaway winnings so it's been feeling like my birthday all month long! Here are all the fun new goodies that I've won over the past month! I still haven't received some of them so there's a few more on the way!

Goodies!

WIP: Retro Rubies QAL Update!

Here is a little update for you on my Retro Rubies Quilt Along. I'm really pleased with how this it coming along and the fabric selection. It's wild, it's out of control, it's crazy....just like me.

I wasn't sure about the Purple Indian Cotton as the sashing fabric but now I'm really loving it! I wanted to use something I had enough of on hand. I had about 2 yards of the purple indian cotton and thought...what the heck, it'll match somehow and bring out the purple in the prints. You really can't go wrong with any Kaffe Prints really matching anything! That's the whole point...no don't need to match!

The only blocks I've sewn up so far are the green ones. I haven't cut the sashing pieces yet but that's next on the list....after I sew up the rest of the blocks of course! What do you think of the layout???

Eeeek! I love it so far!!!

Happy Quilting!

Mini String Quilt Completed

Here is my completed String Fever project! This was a great excuse to finished some blocks I had started a few months ago. It's all quilted and ready to be used on top of my white bookshelf.
These little suckers are fun but so hard to keep the white strings perfectly straight, sheesh! You can see how my white X's are all jacked up. Oh well, you live and you learn. I chose to do purple raw edge binding. I like the way the fray edge looks after it washes. I quilted it with random lines all over and backed it with a dark pink corduroy. You can find the link for String Fever to the right on the sidebar or visit Stitched In Color.

I'm a seamstress now?

My youngest sister has been bugging wanting me to help her with some dresses she wants made. I've got to hand it to her, she's a pretty determined girl. I was at Joanns and few months ago having fabric or stabilizer cut when she ran into me. She then proceeded to tell me that it was so convenient for her. She needed help picking out apparel material for the dresses. She told me what look she was after and we went to the clearance tables. We actually found some beautiful materials. She bought about 4 or 5 different prints and we were off!

Today she called me and wanted to work on one of the dresses. I told her to come on over and we'll see what we can do. She came over and showed me what she had done. Now please keep in mind- this girl has never really sewn anything, knows absolutely nothing about sewing or seams, patterns, etc. She whips out some pieces of the material already cut. I was wondering "what the heck did she do?"...She then showed me this skirt as her inspiration.

Excuse baby "C"...she liked it apparently

Charming Chevrons Completed Top

I spent the day piecing the blocks together into pairs...then into rows...then into the finished top. I did take pictures of the blocks sewn up and into pairs & rows...but who wants to see that crap when you can see it finished! Isn't it purty? I'm working on the back right now. The light grey almost looks White, believe me it's a gorgeous light grey. If you want to make one, visit Christa Quilts to pick up a kit, she is offering 3 different versions!

Oops. I forgot...

I posted awhile ago that I would have a giveaway for 50 likes on facebook. This was SUPPOSED to be the prize...

BUT I sort of forgot that this was the bundle I had ready. I was going through my  sewing stuff and saw it and thought OH NO! It's ok because I gave this instead...

It's probably a much better prize anyways. So I wanted to apologize for the mistake. I want to find a home for it so I have decided to give the little basket of goodies away as a gift. Sorry ladies! I promise it WON'T happen again!!!!!

Am I lucky?

Call it what you will...luck, blessings, chance, karma, whatever...but I've been winning giveaway after giveaway! I've never won so many things in my life. I've won more things in the past few weeks than ever! During the Sew Mama Sew Giveaways, I managed to win ELEVEN things! I can NOT believe it. Seriously, I can't. I hope you guys managed to win something as well! This was my first Giveaway Day I participated in as a blog AND entry participant. I loved all the new fun blogs I found! Whether they are new online or new to me...they were great finds! I want to express and big THANK YOU to all my new followers. Here's some fun stats...

Bloglovin followers jumped from 9 to 94

Facebook followers jumped from 42 to 112

Google Friend Connect jumped from 6 to 41

I'll try not to disappoint you guys! I've only been blogging here since the end of March of this year, so a good 1.5 months. I would say things are looking pretty good so far. I've also found great ideas on other blogs. I sorta have an idea and feel of what to write, post, etc. I promise to take better pictures! I'm doing my best with what I have (a dark place). I may be moving in a few months, so hopefully the lighting is WAY better!

I'll be posting ANOTHER giveaway this week for going over 100 likes so come back soon!

I'll show you my winnings when they all arrive :)

Until next time- Happy Quilting (haha...almost wrote quitting. Don't be a quitter! Be a Quilter! It's way better!)

Happy Mother's Day!

I'll make this really quick so you can get back to enjoying your day!

Here is what I decided to make my Mother-in-law. She always used napkins or paper towels under her cups. So I thought coasters were a much needed gift and appropriate for the occasion...

I went with Moda Dominique II prints & red linen.
Here they are all bundled up and ready for her to use.
Handmade Coasters

I'm not going to take all the credit for this little project. I totally took the idea from Kelly @ Jeliquilts. I am seriously in LOVE with her stuff! Check out her blog!
