Sew Lux Fabrics Club Medallion BOM: March Border and Finished Quilt Top!

After much longer than six months, this sucker is finally finished! I received the instructions from Sew Lux Fabric for the last border in March but baby Lincoln needed to come early. That wasn't in the plans at all!

Well, I was finally able to dedicate some time to this WIP is finish the top! It took me FOREVER to decide on the colors for last border. I really wanted them to frame the quilt. I decided it was time for a little white. There was literally no white in this quilt at all so the black and white zig zag print really helped bring in some contrast with all the colors going on. I'm in love with the pink and purple I picked out...so...much...fun! I'm going to bind this sucker in black when I get around to having it quilted. Might be awhile for that to happen though...sigh. If only I could FMQ. This quilt is considered DONE!

Sorry for some of the wrinkles :)

Club Medallion BOM: February Border

I can't believe Valentines is past already! I mean, where does the time go? I feel like it was JUST Christmas...and that's a distant memory for some. Well, January flew by for me. Probably because of all the Tula City Sampler craziness I was doing. Now that that's done, I can slow down and work on some other things at a nice relaxing pace, right? Haha...probably not. I'm just not built that way. I like to work on one project at a time unless it's a Block of the Month!

Which brings me to the Club Medallion BOM February Border! I received the instructions from Sew Lux Fabric last Monday the and had the border all sewn up Tuesday. See what I mean? No wasting time over here. It just took a while to get photos. Only 1 more month to go!

I went with some great blues and a nice black & white sketchy background. I really like what the blue does to the quilt. In case you're wondering, I don't ever have a plan with a quilt. I just wing it. I never plan out my colors or draw in my little notebook what the finished quilt will look like. I just take it as it comes. I'm quirky like that I guess.

Club Medallion BOM: January Border

Pregnancy is really taking over and I have a fear of falling behind! So here is my January border for the Club Medallion BOM by Sew Lux Fabric. I decided it was time for a serious power punch of color! BOOM!

This thing is getting bigger so I had to improvise with a larger photo location...my patio...haha.

Here's a little close up of the prints used. I'm really loving the burst of color with the striped print! Every quilt needs some ridiculously crazy colorful print thrown in at some point....well mine do at least. Sorry for the crooked pic.

Club Medallion BOM: November Border

I'm getting more and more excited to be doing this BOM. This quilt is going to turn out so awesome! In case you didn't know about it...check out Sew Lux Fabric to subscribe to the PDF patterns or pick up a quilt kit.

I can't even tell you how long it took me to choose the colors for the first border! I knew I wanted the mini border to be yellow and the flying geese to be aqua. But I had the hardest time choosing the fabric for the flying geese background. I thought purple would look cool but I just didn't have the right purple. I didn't want anything too dark since the center block had that black polkadot print.

I looked through all my purples and pulled a few fabrics but none of them were the right. Then I looked through my FQ bundles and came across this Architextures print and thought it was perfect! I wanted to bring some red into the quilt...so I thought red for the corners was a good choice and didn't overpower the quilt so far.

It's hard to capture the true colors of the quilt but the center block triangles are Lime green and the mini border is yellow.

Club Medallion BOM: October Center Block

Boy does it feel good to finally sew! I've had this BOM for October just begging to be sewn up for weeks! I didn't want to get behind in this BOM so I sat down and dedicated some time to it. The new month instructions come out in a couple days!

In case you didn't know about the Club Medallion BOM, click HERE to be directed to Sew Lux Fabrics. You can purchase the PDF BOM instructions or one of the two available kits. I chose to subscribe to only the PDF BOM instruction because I have a funky style.

October is the first month starting with the center block. From this point, there will be borders added continuously until the quilt is completed. I can't wait to finish it in March! Sorry for the poor photo quality...I snapped this pic with my phone.

Catch up! AND Aurifil Designer of the Month Blocks

Guess what I did last night? Yep! I stayed up and did some sewing! Whoo-hoo! It's about time. You were probably starting to ask yourself.."Does this girl ever sew or just blog about stuff she's bought?" Haha...yes I really do sew. To be honest though, I have to be in the mood because having an 8-month old really makes it difficult. I usually wait until she goes down for bedtime. If my husband, baby & dog are asleep...there's no distractions and I can sew sew sew! Anyways, last post I mentioned quilting bees. I decided to sit my butt down and catch up on the Aurifil Designer of the Month quilt along. This time around I went with a fresh &  bright look using one particular print as my color guide & inspiration. Here are my blocks so far...
