Zakka Along 2.0 Patchwork, Please - Piece-Of-Cake Shopping Bag

Of all the projects in the book...I was sort of looking forward to this one. When it was all said and done...this bag is just plain weird. It doesn't really have any shape or anything. I just looks like a pile of fabric when it's all completed. You really have to stuff it to see what it actually is and how cute it can be. I didn't want to use my "good" fabrics so I chose some left over orange Home Decor print I happen to have a lot of and some prints that could go with it....I guess. I would probably like it better if I did use my good fabrics....sigh. I should have went with pink & purple with the orange instead of the blue. Oh well!

I consider this more of a sampler bag. I think it would be really cute if it was maybe half the size. It would just be a way more functional bag that way. There is absolutely no way I would actually shop for my groceries with this. It's so big that it would weigh a ton. It seems to be a great bag for laundry however!

  2. Yeah, it would make a good duffle or laundry bag, and would be super cute (and maybe more practical) at half the size.

  3. I agree, unfilled it looks very ... not good. But filled, it comes to life! I'll put mine to the test with groceries, but you could be right about it just being too big for that...at any rate, hoping you can find a use for it!

  9. I have trouble visualizing bag size from measurements. I've ended up ordering things way too big from catalogues. If you use it for groceries, be sure to buy tissues and other light weight bulky items. :-) Visiting from LAFF.

  11. I think it would make a great trip bag for a weekend away or to put your dirty cloths in from a longer trip! I have a bag I keep inthe trunk of my car. When I load the groceries in the trunk I put them in it and then I get my husband to bring it in to unload. Then back in the trunk for the next time!

  12. I am impressed you kept going with the pattern for this bag. I don't like the drawstring part. You are a trooper for finishing it. Don't feel bad it was not what you thought it would be. I've made things from other designs that just didn't turn out like I thought it would. I bet you find a good use for it.

  13. I love the bag and I love the fabrics. It is a great bag, but not a bag to take with you to the supermarket, but to the gym or to the tennis court!

  17. Yes, it would make a good laundry bag or overnight bag. It would certainly get super heavy if it was for groceries.

It is still a great bag though. I hope you get some use of it after all your hard work.

Thanks so much for linking up to And Sew We Craft Together x
