February: Color Wheel Block

Gypsy Wife Color Wheel Block

Pinwheel Blocks- These are block sizes are deceiving to look at. The pinwheels without borders are 4.5" and the pinwheels with borders are actually 6.5". The program I use for editing makes them all the same size.

Hope this helps with the scale of the pinwheel blocks

Sew Sew Modern 4 Swap Items!

I decided to participate in the Sew Sew Modern 4 Swap because I had so much fun with round 3. I received my items from my partner last week and quickly posted them on instagram. I suppose I should probably post them here too! Sorry...instagram has sorta taken over my life lately...

Here is what I received from the wonderfully talented Kristya of Catiedyd Designs!

Isn't this pillow cover awesome?!?! I LOVE it! All those yummy colors and cute Heather Ross prints in the centers, the beautiful back in Denyse Schmidt and the hidden zipper in a happenin' hot pink!

The bag I received is so cute! love the Tula Pink raccoon print with the lime green liner inside! It's the perfect size for me too. I don't like my bags too bag because it's too easy to load it up with pointless stuff. I seriously love both items a bunch! Thanks again Kristya!

Club Medallion BOM: February Border

I can't believe Valentines is past already! I mean, where does the time go? I feel like it was JUST Christmas...and that's a distant memory for some. Well, January flew by for me. Probably because of all the Tula City Sampler craziness I was doing. Now that that's done, I can slow down and work on some other things at a nice relaxing pace, right? Haha...probably not. I'm just not built that way. I like to work on one project at a time unless it's a Block of the Month!

Which brings me to the Club Medallion BOM February Border! I received the instructions from Sew Lux Fabric last Monday the and had the border all sewn up Tuesday. See what I mean? No wasting time over here. It just took a while to get photos. Only 1 more month to go!

I went with some great blues and a nice black & white sketchy background. I really like what the blue does to the quilt. In case you're wondering, I don't ever have a plan with a quilt. I just wing it. I never plan out my colors or draw in my little notebook what the finished quilt will look like. I just take it as it comes. I'm quirky like that I guess.

Quick Finish, Quick Satisfaction

For some reason I felt the need for a quick finish. Must be these pregnancy hormones or something! As if the Tula Pink City Sampler didn't wear me out enough...seriously. Well, I had this cute little Moda Mini Charm Pack sitting on my shelf taunting me, begging me to be made into something. What the heck am I supposed do with 1 of these? They're cute but seriously it's hardly any material. I think I got it free with something I ordered a while ago or something.

Moda Baby Jane Mini Charm Pack

I had no idea what to make with a mini so I figured a zippered pouch was a good call. We can never have enough of these! They're always getting used in some way or another. I didn't really have a plan so I just started to sewing the little squares together. I figured out the placement I liked and adjusted some of the directional prints for a pouch. Duplicates were used in the middle 2 rows since that would be the bottom. I decided to hand quilt it but couldn't decide which color to use because they were all great! With some help of Instagram friends Yellow was the winner!

I decided to finished off the pouch in the style of this tutorial from Quarter Inch Mark. I love the way the binding looks on it. With the hand quilting done and the binding picked out....here is the finished product. Love the way it turned out! Perfect for on-the-go projects! And it cleared off an almost tiny nothing on my shelf....haha....so not much progress in that department.

This little cutie used 1 whole mini charm pack. 40 squares for the pouch and 2 for the zipper tabs. Perfect!

Do you love Kaffe Fassett?

Kaffe Fassett Charm Swap

It's no secret that I'm a pretty big lover of Kaffe prints. I just love his style with funky designs, bold colors and interesting color combos. Do you agree or no? I know his style doesn't appeal to everyone so you wouldn't hurt my feelings if you're not a fan. We just can't be friends anymore is all...just kidding.

I was thinking about all these swaps I've been apart of. Particularly charm swaps...

-Multiple Anna Maria Horner Charm Swaps
-Tula Pink Charm Swap
-Polka-Dot Layer Cake Swap
-Heather Ross Charm Swap
-Rainbow Charm Swap
-Denyse Schmidt Charm Swap
-Texty Charm Swap
-Low Volume Charm Swap

But sadly, no Kaffe. Well I'm hoping to change that. So I'm writing to get an idea of who out there loves him as much as me! Would you be interested in participating in a Kaffe Fassett Charm Swap?

Well, Sign ups just opened as of right now! Head on over to the flickr page I made to sign up!

There are 56 spots available. 1 spot = 1 yard (56 charms)

By the way...Brandon Mably and Phillip Jacob would be welcome as well since they're just as awesome and work with Kaffe! Shot Cottons are allowed!

***Update: This charm swap is FULL!***
